Departing your hotel we travel southward and enter the Crater Lakes National Park. Climbing the range, we visit the pristine Lake Barrine where we enjoy a delicious morning tea or coffee overlooking the lake. Experience the gardens, and observe the turtles and fish swimming in the crystal, clear waters. A short run takes us to Lake Eacham before visiting the Giant Red Cedar, and Curtain Fig Tree. This beautiful huge fig is nestled in the Danbula state forest and we make our way along suspended walkways to observe the fig from all sides.
We take a brisk walk through the rain forest to the crater in the Hypipamee National Park. Passing the Dinner Falls, we reach the crater some 140 metres deep. This crater was formed thousands of years ago by a massive explosion and is now filled with water to a level some 60 metres below the rim. Making our way back to the vehicle, we may encounter some of the local wildlife.
Traveling on we pass through Atherton with its sugar, banana and tropical fruit plantations visiting a wood working gallery where we enjoy a delightful lunch and a display of wood turning.
This afternoon we travel onto Kuranda where we take time out to wander the famous village with its unique blend of cultures, markets, arts & crafts and Aboriginal art works. We then join the award winning Skyrail for an exhilarating ride over the rainforest, down the escarpment to meet your guide awaiting you for your return to your hotel.
