McLaren Vale is a region entrenched with history, fine wine and fine food. The region consistently produces fine wines and is located within the Fleurieu Zone. This runs along the Gulf of St Vincent starting just below Adelaide and ends just below Aldinga Beach. Today is all about exploring the Peninsula and the fine food and wine that are in abundance in the area.
We travel through the scenic hills and into the beautiful area of Mount Lofty and Hahndorf. Continuing on we arrive at McLaren Vale and Samuels Gorge Winery for wine tasting. Next we sample some of the local delicacies at Lloyd Brothers Olive Grove. You can taste locally grown Kalamata olives and acclaimed cold pressed extra virgin olive oils.
Lunch today will be at Market 190. Market 190 is a café of modern, fresh and regionally inspired food with diversity to suit all appetites. The produce that is available is sourced from the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island area, with a range including olive oils, tapenades, dukkah, kasundi, sauces, jams, honeys, cheese, small-goods and more.
After lunch we head towards the seaside town of Victor Harbour via the Fleurieu Peninsula. Victor Harbour is a favourite holiday destination for many South Australians. The area is dominated by a rugged granite coastline and beautiful scenery.
On arrival at Victor Harbour, your guide will walk you to the Bluff and Granite Island. Here you will have an opportunity to spot some whales and have a much closer look around the region.
We will also have some time to look around the local village and meet the locals.
Afterwards we re-board our vehicle for the delightful journey back to Adelaide via the Adelaide Hills. Observe the regions rich agriculture, dairy and Alpaca farms and wine grape growing regions.
