Hobart is Tasmania’s state capital and the second oldest city in Australia behind Sydney. It is the largest city in the state, the population of the Greater Hobart area being approximately 190,000. First settled in 1804, the early population consisted largely of convicts. This morning we enjoy a short city sights tour. Making our way through the historical Battery Point and Salamanca Place we uncover the rich history of Hobart. Next it is off to Mt Wellington. Standing at 1270 meters high you will get amazing views of the city and surrounding areas.
From here we are off to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. MONA is an art Museum located within the Moorilla winery on the Berridale Peninsula in Hobart. It features some of Australia’s most talked about works of art. Take your time to stroll around the incredible works of art and architecture.
Afterwards we enjoy lunch within the grounds of the Museum and Winery. Sit back and relax in beautiful modern surroundings overlooking the stunning Derwent River.
After lunch we are treated to a wine tasting, sampling a variety of wines which are grown on site at Moorilla Estate. We continue with a tour of the winery before rejoining our vehicle and heading back to your accommodation.
