This morning we board our ferry from Fremantle bound for Rottnest Island and begin your journey of discovery to one of Western Australia’s most popular islands. We disembark the ferry and you have the option to enjoy a relaxing ride on the Island Explorer, jumping on and off at your favourite beaches, bay and attractions. For those wanting more activity, you may prefer to hire bikes and ride around the island.
Today, you will be shown where gaolers and ship pilots lived and worked and why Rottnest became an Aboriginal ‘open prison’ in 1839. We will have a short break at Bathurst lighthouse, and learn about the role that this lighthouse played in navigating ships between 1848 and 1903.
Lunch today is located on the water’s edge, enjoy the sweeping views across the bay and back to the mainland. After lunch we will undertake the world famous “Quokka walk”, and hopefully uncover Rottnest Island’s famous marsupial, the quokka! With an educational focus, this walk will lead you to the quokka’s natural habitats and imparts some interesting facts about this iconic animal.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent amongst the islands Museums, and World War II relics, before we board the ferry back to Perth.
Note***Please advise at time of booking if your clients would prefer to undertake the Hop on and Hop off Bus or Bike Ride around the island.
